Mark Robert Schneider of Weymouth, an educator and author of Disconnect: Why Americans Don't Understand the World and How We Can Learn, will speak. He will describe creative and successful efforts to counteract Americans' insufficient understanding of the world and global problems. Mark Schlesinger will host.

Though Charlie Chaplin’s Little Tramp was on TV all the time when Richard was a child, he could never understand why people loved that character. This sermon tells the story of how, one day last month, Richard finally got it.

For years scientists have tried to figure out the single most important factor that spurred our evolution from ape-like ancestors. Are humans best understood as “apes that walk on two legs,” as some have proposed? Or “apes that use tools”? Or “apes that talk”? This sermon explains the reasoning behind a new and promising theory that we are basically apes that cook.
